Video transcript

(Video begins with the title 'We ask graduates of the Kimberwalli Program: Why are you excited about being a DCJ Aboriginal caseworker?' and uplifting music)

Brooke: I became an Aboriginal caseworker so I could give kids a voice.

(Footage of Brooke receiving her graduation certificate as staff and participants applause).

After being a youth worker for long, I also wanted a career change and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Riley: I'm really excited to be an Aboriginal caseworker, because it's a chance to make a change in the community.

(Riley talks to another participant and receives his certificate)

I really recommend any Aboriginal young man to pursue a career with DCJ becoming an Aboriginal caseworker.

Marlee: (laughs) I'm really excited about being an Aboriginal caseworker, because it gives me the opportunity to be able to work with Aboriginal families, keeping us together, keeping our culture strong and keeping us connected to Country.

(Marlee is shown talking to other Aboriginal participants in a yarning circle)

(animated NSW government logo appears and music ends)

Information alert

Please note that at DCJ we commonly use the word "Aboriginal", recognising that Aboriginal people are the original inhabitants of NSW, the part of Australia we are responsible for. We acknowledge and respect that Torres Strait Islander people are among the First Nations of Australia and that both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are an important part of our staff and the communities we work with.
