Referrals

Penrith and Newcastle

To be eligible for referral to LINKS Trauma Healing Service in Penrith and Newcastle, a child must:

  • be aged 16 years or under
  • be able to travel to Penrith or Newcastle at least once per week
  • have experienced two or more placements in the past six months OR an increased need for respite care over the past 12 months

To make a referral:

  • If you are internal to DCJ, please make a request through ChildStory
  • If you’re an external caseworker / out-of-home care professional, please fill out the LINKS referral form (PDF, 334.5 KB) and send it to LINKS@dcj.nsw.gov.au

Illawarra and Western

To be eligible for referral to LINKS Trauma Healing Service in Illawarra and Western NSW, a child must:

  • be aged 8 – 16 years
  • be in statutory foster/relative/kinship care where there is a potential for placement breakdown (placement instability indicators may include 2 or more placements in the last 6 months); OR
  • be in a transitional placement.

The child and/or caregiver must be aware that the referral has been made, and agree to attend regular sessions in:

  • Illawarra; OR
  • Western (Orange)
