Civil Justice Action Plan

The Department of Communities and Justice’s Civil Justice Action Plan for New South Wales contains a suite of reforms designed to:

  • help people and small businesses resolve common legal problems
  • promote early dispute resolution
  • make it simpler and easier for people to access the courts.

The Plan sets out a number of actions that will help remove the barriers that prevent small businesses and individuals from getting the right information, and help, to resolve common disputes quickly and fairly.

Key actions include

  • establishing an Access to Justice Innovation Fund, consisting of up to $250,000 in grants each year
  • improving access to legal information via the LawAccess NSW website
  • piloting innovative technology in selected court lists
  • investing in Community Legal Centres.

Together, these actions will help to strengthen the NSW civil justice system and deliver positive outcomes for the community.
