Disability Advocacy Futures Program

In his report on disability advocacy funding in NSW, the NSW Ageing and Disability Commissioner, Mr Robert Fitzgerald AM, recommended a renewed program of disability advocacy funding for the NSW Government under the Disability Advocacy Futures Program (DAFP).

Starting from 1 January 2022, the DAFP will support the approximately 1.4 million people living with disability in NSW to access NSW Government funded and delivered services.

The DAFP includes three core advocacy services:

  • Individual Disability Advocacy to assist individuals to access services and supports. This includes statewide services for Legal, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and culturally and linguistically diverse disability advocacy, as well as location-based services.
  • Systemic Disability Advocacy to address systemic issues affecting people with disability or particular groups of people with disability.
  • Representative Disability Advocacy: membership organisations run by or on behalf of people with particular disabilities.
