Counselling and support

Free and confidential counselling and support is available to families and friends of missing people who live in NSW or who have a relative or friend missing in NSW.

Our counsellors have a degree in social work or psychology and specialised knowledge of the psychological, emotional and practical experiences and difficulties faced by families and friends when someone goes missing.

What support do you provide?

We can provide information, assistance and liaison during different events in a missing person’s investigation, including:

  • media involvement
  • coronial investigations
  • legal and financial issues
  • referrals for support when a missing person has been located.

For more information, read Taking care of yourself when someone is missing.

How do I access support?

You can contact us by phone or email.

If you need counselling, please call 1800 633 063 (option 7) or email ffmps@justice.nsw.gov.au.

Support is available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

What if I need immediate support?

We are not a crisis service. For immediate assistance, please contact a crisis service or NSW Police.
