Financial support

The types of financial support available under the Victims Support Scheme are:

  • Financial assistance for immediate needs: up to $5,000 to help cover urgent health, safety or security expenses resulting from the violent crime or modern slavery. This includes:
    • the Immediate Needs Support Package (INSP), which is available to victims of domestic violence who require urgent financial assistance to be safe and healthy or to secure their wellbeing because of the violent crime
    • assistance to pay for crime scene clean-up (forensic cleaning), which is available to primary victims, family members of a homicide victim and service providers.
  • Financial assistance for economic loss: up to $30,000 to help cover other expenses resulting from a violent crime or from modern slavery.
  • Assistance to pay for funeral expenses: up to $9,500 to a family group to cover the costs of a funeral for a homicide victim.
