Media statement - Sutherland Local Court
Please attribute the below to a Communities and Justice (DCJ) spokesperson:
The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) was notified yesterday that an individual who attended Sutherland Local Court last Wednesday has since tested positive to COVID-19.
NSW Health has advised DCJ that this case remains under investigation with further testing underway. However, DCJ is taking precautionary measures to arrange for the court to be forensically cleaned and will close the court today.
DCJ will continue to work closely with NSW Health and carry out all necessary measures to protect the safety of our staff, court users and the community.
The Local Court has made changes to its operations since the onset of the pandemic to reduce the risk of the spread of Coronavirus. This includes enforcing social distancing rules, increasing cleaning and reducing the number of people attending court.
