Information for Government Agencies

There are several important rules that govern the delivery of legal services for the NSW Government.

Many of these rules have been issued by way of a Premier's Memorandum and include policies relating to:

  • certain legal matters that must be referred to the Crown Solicitor's Office (core legal work)
  • policies relating to the equitable briefing of female barristers and the conduct of government agencies in civil litigation;
  • litigation involving Government agencies and the briefing of the Australian Government Solicitor.

These rules apply to agencies that use in-house legal lawyers to conduct their legal matters, as well as agencies who use external legal services.
