Domestic and Family Violence Innovation Fund

The NSW Domestic and Family Violence Blueprint for Reform 2016-2021: Safer Lives for Women, Men and Children (PDF , 674.5 KB) identifies the need for an increased focus on prevention and early intervention strategies to achieve a substantial and continued reduction in the rate of domestic and family violence, as well as the need for victims of domestic and family violence to receive flexible, timely and person-centred support.

To achieve this, in 2016 the NSW Government announced a $20 million Domestic and Family Violence Innovation Fund.

Round 2 of the Innovation Fund provided almost $12 million in funding for 13 projects.

The successful projects from round 2 are:

• Black Box Parenting, Grand Pacific Health Ltd. (PDF, 41.2 KB)
  A series of workshops for clinicians to deliver specialised group workshops for parents with a history of domestic and family violence.
• Early Signals. First Response. Early Childhood Australia (PDF, 42.7 KB)
  Builds capability of early childhood services to identify and respond to children who have been exposed to domestic violence.
• Finding Safety, Jesuit Refugee Service (PDF, 41.3 KB)
  A suite of programs aimed at refugee women to increase their understanding of domestic and family violence.
• Firmer Foundations, Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand (PDF, 40.8 KB)
  Builds financial well-being of women and increases the capacity of women to leave domestic and family violence situations.
• Fixed Address, Kempsey Families Inc. (PDF, 125.6 KB)
  Provides a coordinated approach to the delivery of accommodation for perpetrators of violence to keep victims and families safe.
• From the Ground Up to Equality, Arab Council Australia (PDF, 42.4 KB)
  A whole of community prevention program for the Arabic speaking community aimed at challenging specific drivers of violence in the Arabic community.
• Let’s Talk: Mitigating and responding to the needs of elder abuse, Relationships Australia NSW (PDF, 41.8 KB)
  Assists families with conflict resolution where elderly people are involved.
• RE-THINK! Anti-Violence Project, 2Connect Youth and Community (PDF, 42.3 KB)
  A peer educator project to address negative attitudes that underpin domestic and family violence affecting young people in culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
• Safety Without Borders, Relationships Australia NSW (PDF, 42.5 KB)
  Provides targeted prevention strategies and early intervention pathways for asylum seeker and refugee communities.
• Stronger Families, Better Communities, Children Australia (OzChild) (PDF, 41.1 KB)
  Delivers functional family therapy that addresses the complexities associated with adolescent violence.
• The DV Project: 2650, Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre (PDF, 42.4 KB)
  A whole of community approach to increase knowledge and challenge attitudes and social norms related to violence and gender inequality.
• The Key to End Violence, White Ribbon Australia (PDF, 40.9 KB)
  Engages boys and young men to start conversations around gender and violence in their local communities.
• The Men’s Accountability Project, Men and Family Centre (PDF, 42.4 KB)
  Engages men to challenge and change attitudes and behaviours that support violence.
