$8 million to help house the homeless

16 February 2023

An $8 million funding boost will support more people at risk of homelessness into stable long-term accommodation across NSW.

Minister for Families and Communities and Minister for Disability Services Natasha Maclaren-Jones said the boost is part of an $177.8 million Together Home program, providing leasing and support packages for those  at risk of homelessness.

“The NSW Government is  committed to ensuring everyone has a safe and stable place to live,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“Together Home is a key initiative to support the Premier’s Priority to halve street homelessness in NSW by 2025.

“This program will help transition people onto a trajectory away from homelessness and into long-term, stable housing, while improving overall personal wellbeing.”

Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said this investment aims to empower people to build a brighter future, and foster connections to community.

“Everyone in NSW should have a roof over their head and receive the wrap-around services they need to thrive,” Mr Roberts said.

Member for Albury Justin Clancy said this will change the lives of many people in the regions who are struggling with cost of living pressures.

“We are giving people across regional NSW access to affordable housing and wrap-around services so that they can reach their full potential,” Mr Clancy said.

The Together Home program is delivered by 18 community housing providers (CHPs) located across NSW, who lease properties in the private rental market to people who have been street sleeping.
