Housing to support older women in Woy Woy

Older women at risk of homelessness will be supported into safe and secure homes thanks to a $6 million boost to social and affordable housing on the Central Coast.

Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Alister Henskens said the NSW Government was partnering with Pacific Link to deliver the 12-unit project.

“We are working hard with Community Housing Providers, such as Pacific Link, to give them the tools they need to boost housing supply across the State,” Mr Henskens said.

“The development in Woy Woy is close to shops and services and will provide a wealth of opportunities for new tenants to enjoy everything the Central Coast has to offer.”

The NSW Government contributed $1.6 million to the project through the $50 million Community Housing Innovation Fund.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Adam Crouch said the project delivers a positive social and economic outcome.

“This project is part of the pipeline of new homes being built across the Central Coast which will provide secure housing for those most in need,” Mr Crouch said.

“It has also created jobs for local tradies and construction workers, providing critical economic stimulus during the pandemic.”

Pacific Link Housing CEO Ian Lynch said the complex was the first project specifically aimed at supporting older single women in Woy Woy.

“The NSW Government’s investment allows us to provide brand new safe and affordable homes alongside our market rate tenancies,” Mr Lynch said.

“All the properties will be managed by social enterprise Key2 Realty, providing the highest level of support and care for residents.”

The project is due for completion next month with tenants expected to move in before Christmas.
