Workplace Adjustment jobseeker information

Business area: Inclusion and Diversity

Directorate: Workforce Strategy, Inclusion and Systems; People Branch

Division: Corporate Services

Project summary

Expanding upon the DCJ Workplace Adjustment Policy and Procedure to develop an externally-facing Workplace Adjustment document for jobseekers and applicants with disability.

Focus Area:

  • Supporting access to meaningful employment.

Project objective

Making Workplace Adjustments available to prospective employees with disability. Preparing an accessible externally-facing document will showcase DCJ as a safe and inclusive environment for people with disability by promoting adjustments throughout the recruitment process and into onboarding.

This was an opportunity identified through the Access and Inclusion Index through the Australian Network on Disability (AND).

The challenge

Ensuring that the information is accessible and reaches all jobseekers and applicants.

Why is this important?

Sharing Workplace Adjustment information externally will enable people with diability to understand the adjustment options available to them throughout the recruitment process and into employment. This resource will also demonstrate the commitment DCJ has to increasing employment of people with disability.

Envisioned benefits of this resource would be an increase in applications from people with disability and therefore a rise in disability employment at DCJ.

What will success look like?

Success will be an increase in candidates requesting adjustments throughout the recruitment process. This will mean that more people with disability are engaged with DCJ as an employer and will be provided the right adjustments to allow them to perform at their best throughout recruitment.

How will you measure success?

Assess number of applications from people with disability before and after the change to observe any increase in representation.

Review the number of roles filled by people with disability previously and post-change. Data will be reviewed quarterly to monitor the effectiveness of the resource.
