Project objective

As part of our Diversity Inclusion Plan, South Western Sydney District has set a target to increase disability representation to 5.6% by 2025.

The challenge

Address the challenge of disability representation within the directorate. It is important to include people with disability within the workforce to bring unique skillsets, knowledge and insight and to address the unemployment rate. 

Why is this important?

Implementation of the above objectives will support South Western Sydney District to make positive changes for staff with a Disability, and remove barriers for anyone with a Disability who is considering employment with Department of Communities and Justice.

What will success look like?

Increase disability representation in the SWS District by 5.6%

Status Notes:

  • Advertising for all positions to specialist disability recruitment portals and media
  • Include statement of all positions encouraging applications from people with disability in all job advertisements
  • Prototype Rule 26 (GSE General Rules)
  • Implement listening circles with Disability staff
  • Promote Disability Confident (for Managers) e-Learning and implement
  • Formal support plan/Reasonable adjustment plans for disability employees
