Useful resources and links for Disability Inclusion Planning

The resources below will assist you in making your part of NSW a place that welcomes and includes people with disability.

NSW Department of Communities and Justice Services Guidelines for developing DIAPs

The DIAP Guidelines (PDF, 3.3 MB) provide an overview of DIAPs and a step by step plan for Action Plan development and implementation as well as a list of links and resources.

The Disability Inclusion Action Planning resources page also provides links to resources on each of the four focus areas.

These focus areas include:

  • Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours.
  • Creating liveable communities.
  • Supporting access to meaningful employment.
  • Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and processes.

Other guidelines for developing DIAPs

This resource was developed in consultation with people with disability and strongly incorporates the perspectives and voices of people with disability about what they would like to see in DIAPs. It includes information about best practice when consulting with people with disability, developing effective strategies for the DIAP and monitoring, evaluation and reporting, as well as a DIAP checklist.

The Department of Social Services website provides a framework for businesses developing Disability Action Plans.
