Can I access the online forms on my mobile/tablet?

Yes, you can access the forms from your mobile, tablet and PC. The screen will adapt to the device being used.

What are the minimum browser requirements to be able to use the online forms?

Online forms are designed to be used on a variety of browsers e.g. Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox.

Do I have to pay for my GIPA online application?

Informal requests do not require a fee however an informal request should not be used if you are seeking the personal information of others, or a copy of all your records that are held by the department.  If you are seeking the information of other individuals, or an entire copy of your records, you must lodge a formal access application.

Formal access and internal review applications do require an application fee. In some cases, formal access  applications may also require further processing fees, however DCJ will contact you if this is the case.

Payments can be made by Visa or MasterCard.

How long will I have to complete and submit my form?

Once you start an application form, you can save and revisit the form for 30 days before it will expire.  If your form has expired, you will need to start a new form.

How do I get back to my form if I save it to complete later?

You will need to click on the link in  the confirmation email you received when you first registered your form. You will be taken to a screen where you will need to enter your Form ID and password.

Alternatively, you can come back to the DCJ Open Government, Information and Privacy Unit website and continue your form. You will be asked for your Form ID and your password.

If you have forgotten these details, don’t worry, you will be able to recover these by following the simple instructions provided when you click on the ‘forgot my form ID’ or ‘forgot my password’ links.

Will I need to sign my form?

Yes, the form will direct you to sign electronically, where you will be provided with simple instructions to help you through this process.

Will DCJ send me reminders and information about my form before I complete and submit it?

Yes, you will automatically receive reminder notifications via email. Once you have registered your form, you can also choose to receive reminders and notifications by SMS.

Reminders and notifications may include; reminders to complete and submit your form,  a warning that your form is due to expire or to let you know that the form needs to be signed electronically.

Do I get a copy of the online form that I submitted?

Yes, you will have the option to download a copy of your form. A link of the submitted application will also be sent to the email address that you have provided.

How long will my GIPA application take?

After you have submitted your completed application, it will be acknowledged within 5 business days. If valid, your request will be assessed and decided within 20 working days unless an extension of time applies in accordance with the GIPA Act.
