People with a cognitive disability are linked to appropriate support services during their contact with the Criminal Justice System as victims, witnesses and suspects/defendants.
Focus Area:
In partnership with Justice Advocacy Services deliver face to face training for registry staff who interact with the public.
Ensure that people with a cognitive disability are linked to the appropriate support service during their contact with the NSW Criminal Justice System as victims, witnesses and suspects/defendants.
As a division we want to support and assist customers to fully participate in their court process.For customers with a cognitive disability support from Justice Advocacy Service will assist them to exercise their rights throughout their contact with the NSW criminal justice system.
Success will be measured against the % of staff who complete the training and the % increase of referral to Justice Advocacy Services from court registry staff.

Court Services staff undertake Justice Advocacy Service training, which is aimed at increasing the competency of staff in working with and supporting people with a cognitive disability.
